Hey guys, a quick note (as of 7/19/17). Tumblr just added a ‘feature’ that shows if you’re online or not by putting a colored icon over part of your avatar. The only place I see it right now is in the messenger, though it might be elsewhere.
It’s showing a friend as online even though they just have a tumblr tab open that they haven’t looked at in hours. It also shows how long ago they were active. They don’t even have the option to turn it off yet.
I have a few problems with this:
I personally don’t like the possibility of being stalked
Person A could get mad at Person B because it said Person B was online but they weren’t (and thus didn’t respond) – or just wasn’t up to talking
Person X could message Person Y and get anxious when person Y doesn’t respond, since it says they’re online
I found the place to turn it off in account settings. There’s a section called “Availability” where you can toggle off the functionality.
On mobile, go to Account -> General Settings -> Privacy and toggle off “Let people see that you’re active.” It’s not under Account -> Visibility, which is probably the more intuitive spot.
Safe browsing, folks.
Reblogging to add the info that if you don’t see it yet, it’s just because tumblr rolls out updates in waves. The original messenger functionality came out in waves too – everybody didn’t get it at once. You’ll see it soon!
Reblogging for my followers who might have trouble remembering whether or not they’ve taken their medicine!
OH MY GOD, THIS WILL HELP ME SO MUCH. I GET SO SCARED WHEN I DON’T KNOW IF I JUST TOOK MY MEDS TWICE.
THANK YOU, I’M ABOUT TO CRY.
Let me share with you guys a product that super helps me remember if I took my meds or not (because while the above is great, I still would manage to confuse myself):
They count as soon as you put the top back on. So if I don’t know if I’ve taken my medication for the day, I can check the cap to see how long ago I opened the container! It’s brilliant!
JFC THIS IS A GAME CHANGER.
I KNOW THIS IS MY ART BLOG BUT EVERYONE WHO TAKES MEDS SHOULD SEE THIS.
If you’re going into the dub expecting every character’s voice to be a carbon copy of their Japanese counterpart … you’re going to be very disappointed.
The thing that makes a dub good is how the voice fits the character; not how it compares to the original voice actor. The original voice actor took their own original take on the character, and now it’s the dub voice actor’s turn to put their own original spin on the character, while staying true to the character’s original personality. There is plenty of room for originality while still staying true to the original character.
Some people don’t like dubs. I get that. They can feel awkward, clunky, and just plain funny at times without meaning to be. But, when a dub is well-made it can really enhance the viewing experience for a person, like me, who speaks English better than they speak Japanese (I really don’t speak any). Reading subtitles can be taxing for some, especially those with dyslexia and other reading disabilities. Believe me, this dub is a real good thing for Haikyuu! It makes the show much more accessible to a lot of people!
So when the dub finally comes out come September, please keep an open mind and actually give the voices a chance before you start hating on it. If it’s bad, it’s bad. I’ll eat my freakin’ crow I guess (hehe, puns). But if it’s good, I don’t want all you dub haters ruining a good dub for those of us who enjoy them.
I mostly just began posting and figuring things out, which was inconvenient and confusing but very informative. I’ve got a few pieces of advice I’d give to myself if I was starting out on tumblr again, hopefully they’ll be helpful for you as well:
그리고 영어가 불편하신분들을 위해서 간단하게 작성을 했습니다: “My art was uploaded without permission on Tumblr, and I would like the post removed. This is the original link to my art (소스링크) . This is the post I would like deleted (불펌링크) .”
YOU CAN ALSO SEARCH FOR THEIR URL IN THE SEARCH BOX, CLICK ON THE PERSON’S ICON ON THEIR URL BOX THINGY, AND GO TO “FLAG THIS BLOG.”
HERE’S A QUICK STEP-BY-STEP FOR YOU. YOU CAN ONLY DO THIS IF IT IS YOUR WORK!
Yoo this is for just incase any of this has happened to anyone or anyone worried about it happening. Id be pretty pissed if anyone stole my art.. So yeah here you are.
A tool that I’ve found is really handy is a called the Cash Clock. It’s a simple program that measures both the time that you’re working on a piece as well as how much money you should be earning. You can adjust the hourly wage to whatever you feel is right. Simply start the clock whenever you begin working on a project right up until you’re finished. It can give you a clear indication of what you should charge for commissions.
No artist should make below minimum wage for their artwork.
Between work refusing to give me more hours (and some weeks, no hours) and my student support not paying me until I get my thesis proposal accepted (hopefully) late this month and my job searching for a new job going Very Badly, I am basically at the end of what I can afford. So I’m opening and boosting these again despite needing to do my proposal because it’s the last resort I have.
I also have a tip jar or donations can be made to my PayPal, if you’re that way inclined, and all are appreciated.
Reblogs are always appreciated.
(If you’re in NZ, I offer discounts bc I can do direct bank payments and avoid Paypal’s fees and conversion loss.)
This is so mind-numbingly simple to execute, and it will block a whole IP address, which means that anons cant make new profiles to send more hate.
IF YOU KNOW SOME OF YOUR FOLLOWERS ARE GETTING HATE, LET THEM KNOW THEY CAN STOP THE HATE BY DOING THIS THING.
GUYS. THIS IS IMPORTANT. A lot of people probably don’t know about this, I didn’t until now. And quite frankly, the hate people in this fandom are getting right now is just disgusting. So reblog to let your followers know they can do this!!
