“Fidget toys make you less focused :)” that because you’re not adhd/autistic you fucking clod
list of things i have heard from people without adhd/autism who used my fidget toy:
– it doesn’t do anything
– its a waste of plastic
– how do you pay attention in class
– it makes so much noise (it doesn’t make any noise, they just saw i had it in my hand)
– at least my fidget spinner actually does stuff (my toy does 6 different things. also they got their fidget spinner taken the same day)
– its gay (creative)
things my friends with adhd/autism have said after using my fidget toy:
– oh my god
– its so…. Good
– i could actually pay attention to shit in class
– where can i buy this???
– wait there’s More stuff like this
– i love you. (not related to the toy per say but that felt nice)
This right here is an important post
As a teacher, the whole “fidget spinners being marketed as toys” is the most terrifying trend my students have introduced me to. I gave a fidget cube to one of my 6th grade students who’s been struggling all year with his adhd, who is so smart but is failing math because he can’t focus in it. He was hesitant at first, about a teacher giving him something “to help” rather than punishing him, but agreed with me that it couldn’t hurt to try.
He hasn’t put it down.
Everyday since he got it, I’ve seen him with it. He holds it in his pocket, and hasn’t climbed on a table or cussed at a teacher since.
BUT
There are at least 20 other kids in our school who bring fidget spinners, play with them out on the table during lessons. They don’t pay attention in class, and disrupt other students’ learning with them. These are not students with adhd or anxiety, these are students who are just playing because their kids and that’s what kids do.
What scares me is I know other teachers have been confiscating them. They’re going to be banned, if it continues to be a problem. And my 6th grader, who’s had noticeable improvements since he started playing with his cube, is going to get in trouble for using something that helps him learn.

you make the mistake thinking this is about music

From the series “
things-I-know-but-will-only-learn-repeating-many-many-times”.
I’ve been noticing for a while now that creativity and freedom are two words that will always walk together in my personal dictionary.
In theory, we all know things like “ignore negativity/haters”, “listen to constructive criticisms”, “keep fighting”, “enjoy the ride”, “love yourself”, “love what you do”, etc, but what’s the real meaning behind those words? How do I learn those values? My past self would think “knowing is enough to learn!” and I kind of think that’s why so many things went wrong
in my life.
Learning takes time, repetition and patience. We need different kinds of situations to apply the same concepts. We need time to recognize we’re not programmed machines that automatically understands everything we’re told. That’s why I believe we’re always learning no matter our age.
So, I took a lot of time to finally notice that I must free my mind from my own pressure caused by “society’s pressure” of perfeccionism and do things my own way. “Will they like it?”, “will they throw stones at me?”, “this is not good enough for them”, “oh no I shouldn’t post this, it’s not perfect”, “I can’t do this, I’ve no good ideas” are common thoughts in my mind and it’s hard to get away from them, you get it. But now I know I have to stop, breath in, breath out, focus on my goal and keep going. Free and inspired! Always repeating this until I finally and completely undertand what’s the meaning of free creativity.
It’s a life journey!
Futhermore: “tumblr” as you experience it is defined entirely by whom you’re following. If you think tumblr doesn’t focus enough on recovery or female artists or Jason Momoa, follow some recovery/female artists/Jason Momoa blogs, and tumblr will change.
THIS. People are always going on about “tumblr is so toxic” like there’s a singular tumblr experience and we’re all helpless to escape it. UNFOLLOW PEOPLE. If someone’s putting bullshit on your dash, just unfollow them. Follow new people. It really is that simple. Tumblr is what you make it.

I clicked on a lot of things.
Guys, I keep seeing that post going around about putting uncooked spaghetti noodles in your tablet pen to work as replacement nibs, and I know OP means well and stuff, but PLEASE DON’T DO THAT.
Pasta, no matter how smooth it is, is still a product of dry flour, and rubbing it down on a surface creates micro-sized grit that will scratch up your screen faster than any tablet nib, and they wear down even faster, so it won’t even be worth it. Also, it’s so brittle, if it breaks inside the pen, it will be difficult to clean it out.
Tablet nibs are a pain to replace and buy, but buying a 10 pack of them for $7-8 on Amazon is going to be a better choice than having to pay a heftier sum to repair a scratched up tablet surface/screen.
Spread this post if you can, because I’d really hate to see someone accidentally damage their tablets this way.
